Hong Kong Yarns Returns (without the wool!)

Well 5 months has passed (Happy New Year to all our readers!) without an update so I guess Hannah has fallen into that trap of so many bloggers - forgetting to blog!  As I spent those 5 months saying I would write one, I thought I would finally give it a go.  I can't promise to be as interesting as Hannah, but something is better than nothing (right!?).

So I guess we ought to go back to June 2013 after our visit to KL.  This was the first of our family visits to our bed and breakfast facilities here in Hong Kong (we are now rated as hotel number 512 out of 553 on tripadvisor after some rather harsh reviews from the parents).

Mum and Dad Greene were the first to experience our Hong Kong tour guide skills.  This included the obligatory photo in front of the Hong Kong skyline, seeing the first cruise ship to use the new terminal at the old runway terminal and a rainy rooftop bar experience in Wan Chai!

Before our next visitors we went to see the Premiership tournament featuring my beloved Spurs.  Hannah had done a great job of getting hold of the very popular tickets.  Sadly Spurs had lost so we only got to see them in the 3rd/4th play off, but as ever there was an excuse with the mud bath of the pitch!  It was also our first trip to Hong Kong stadium where the rugby 7s are also held.

Next visitors were Mum and Dad Simpson.  We recycled our Hong Kong tour (which mainly involves taking people to all the places we want to eat!).  This time it included a trip to Cafe 103 in the Ritz Carlton (on the 103rd floor as the name suggests!).  We had a great view and great desserts - it's a shame my through glass photography skills are a bit lacking.

Next and final family visitors of the summer were brother and Sister Greene in August 2013.  As well as the normal tourist tour including the peak tram and a rather sweaty walk along Dragon's back to a beach in Shek O, we also introduced them to Hannah's local after work pub and enjoyed a night out on Lan Kwai Fong (or LKF as it's known to us locals).  This included 7/11 drinks - which in simple terms is buying drinks from a 7/11 to have on the street rather than paying bar prices - something no doubt they are now replicating as Tesco drinks somewhere in the UK!  We also had a giant pizza.....

And that brings us to the end of August 2013!  Other things I can tell you about a Hong Kong summer are that it is very hot, very humid and often rainy.  We escaped without any direct typhoon hits although we did have a couple of T8 warnings which involves everyone getting some time off work!  It was great to have lots of family visitors and hopefully we sent them all home with some happy memories of their Hong Kong adventures.

Will post again soon as we try and time travel back from June 2013 to the present :-)
