'Holiday Smiles' at the Races

Fri 28th December saw us go back to Happy Valley Racecourse. The Races are usually on a Wednesday but since it was a public holiday (boxing day) they moved it. It was really good fun and nice to be able to take advantage of the cheap beer knowing you don't have to go to work the next day!
A little bit strange since they were treating it a bit like a New Years Eve party, despite NYE being 3 days away. Still we got super cool '2013' flashing specs and the band was decent!
Holiday Smiles
Races and Happy Valley lit up behind.
You won't be surprised to hear we were betting small! I think we came away about £7 down so not bad for a nights entertainment! We met up with some of Stephens workmates there and went to grab a curry with them at 'The Chapel' afterwards.

We lived in Happy Valley for a month but we'd never even noticed this place. Or possibly we had but had chosen to ignore and walk past it given it didn't look anything special from the outside and Stephen is a beer snob so the 'Carlsberg' sign wasn't particularly inviting. Anyway it's like a proper English pub inside with a decent beer and cider choice (despite Carlsberg sign) and the best bit - it serves tasty curries till late!

Yum! I would say we'll be back but we've since found another amazing curry place... more on that another time!
The rest of the weekend was fairly non eventful and lazy but good. Whoever told me it doesn't rain in Hong Kong October to January clearly lied because it rained all weekend!

A bit wet on a walk to nearby German Bakery for breakfast.
Stephen had bought me Season 3 of the Killing for Christmas so we mainly sat and watched this all weekend - it was fab, bit sad it's the last series though.

One of my grandmas friends was in Hong Kong visiting her daughter and family for Christmas so we met up with them for a quick coffee in the shopping centre down the road (Cityplaza) which was nice and made us leave the flat! They'd also brought some bits from home for us - Fat Face socks for christmas (thanks grandma!) and some 2012 olympic branded things for Stephen to use as bargaining power at work....

Also had a few drinks, standard.

On Sunday I went to the gym (motivated by my new Orla Kiely water bottle - how pretty?! Thanks mummy!).

Popped into Uniqlo on the way back from the gym and discovered Orla Kiely has now done a Heattech range for them - so pretty!! It's unlikely we're going skiing this year but I bought a couple anyway - it'd be rude not to as so pretty and cheap and they'll get worn at some point, maybe even here if it gets as cold as people claim....

Pretty Things
